HOSPITAL OF ST JOHN & ST ELIZABETH – SUB-STATION

Contract: JCT Design and Build Contract 2011
Value: £1,850,000
Duration: 46 weeks
Structural Engineer: Clancy Consulting

The works comprised of a new building to contain a Porter’s Lodge and workshop facility as well as an electrical sub-station infrastructure works as part of an enabling package for the Hospital to divert and upgrade the primary HV supply and increase capacity for the impending new Hospital Wing.

Negotiations with Network Rail were vital to avoid the piling solution interfering with the existing tunnel running below the site and day to day hospital deliveries were co-ordinated with site construction deliveries in conjunction with the Estates Department.

The site programme was successfully co-ordinated on a daily basis to ensure that the UKPN switchover aligned with Hospital shutdowns and the standby generator facilities.
