World Earth Day World Earth Day was created in 1970 and has been celebrated every year on the 22nd April. It’s mission? – To drive positive environmental action for our planet through scientific research, education, community outreach & tackling plastic and pollution globally. What are we doing? – J Coffey Group have signed up to Pledge To Net Zero with a strategy now in place with the aim of reducing our organisations Carbon Footprint. In light of this, the Sustainability Department along with J Coffey Plant have formed the Carbon Reduction Strategy Group (CRSG) to discuss and implement any new initiatives to help further reduce our effect on the environment. – J Coffey Plant have invested £2.5 million in phasing out older machinery and equipment, replacing them with those that have a more carbon- friendly footprint. Continuous research is being conducted on new technologies coming onto the market. One such technology that will start to be trialled is a type of Bio- Fuel which could replace more harmful fuels currently being used in our machines.
