“We looked for a contractor where a high proportion of their work is repeat business, a team with exibility and an approach of getting the job done. J Coffey Construction provide a level of performance unrivalled by many competitors.” Church Commissioners for England.

This traditional contract was to convert an existing Victorian musical instrument factory into eight 3,000 sq ft high quality apartments.

Works included substantial structural steelwork with the accompanying temporary works to create ground floor car parking, below a reconstructed first floor podium slab, demolition and rebuilding of second and third floor structures, together with rebuilding of substantial areas of the existing elevations in London stock bricks to match the existing. Services installation included under floor heating, high quality sanitary ware, air conditioning, comprehensive AV installation together with modern Lutron lighting controls.

A significant logistical challenge to the construction process was caused by the extremely narrow single vehicular entrance to the Mews. J Coffey’s tightly managed logistic solution secured the building contract award as a result of its sensitive neighbourly approach to the high profile residents of the mews.
