Project Spotlight | Colne Valley Viaduct – Deck FRC & Finishing Posted 26th March 2026 by Linda Corcoran This week we’re looking back at our work on the iconic Colne Valley Viaduct, the UK’s longest railway viaduct & a key part of the HS2 C1 section delivered by Align JV🛣️ Our team delivered the Deck FRC & Finishing works, including placing over 1,500 GRC/UHPC parapets supported by our in‑house engineers & designers. We also developed efficient lifting & temporary works solutions to ensure safe, precise & consistent installation across the full 3.4km structure. In addition, we installed 6.8km of in-situ concrete kerbs, working closely with Align JV to deliver safely, efficiently & to programme. We’re proud to have played our part in delivering this landmark project🙌
St Patrick’s Day Parade! Bringing together talented graduates from a wide range of backgrounds, the day was filled with energy, curiosity & impressive potential. From group exercises to individual presentations, we saw brilliant thinking, strong collaboration & a genuine passion for our industry. KOVA KX: 105 Judd Street Topping Out Posted 26th March 2026 by Linda Corcoran Last Thursday we celebrated the Topping Out of KOVA KX: 105 Judd Street for our clients AshbyCapital & Native Land. A major milestone delivered through exceptional teamwork, collaboration & innovation👏 Our journey with this project began in 2022 & since the first soft strip in 2023 the team has transformed a complex brief into an exemplar of sustainable construction. By retaining 75% of the existing structure, reusing materials & recycling at scale, the project is on track to achieve BREEAM Outstanding♻️ A few highlights we’re incredibly proud of: 🔧 200 radiators salvaged for the College of North West London 🔄 4,000 carpet tiles reused 🏗️ Over 80 tonnes of steel repurposed for temporary works ♻️ The recovered glass from the project contributed to J Coffey becoming the UK’s largest provider of glass for recycling in the UK Throughout the build, we’ve also worked closely with local residents, earning two Considerate Constructor Awards along the way. A huge thank you to our clients, design partners & the J Coffey team whose dedication has shaped this project, particularly those who went above & beyond to meet the engineering, structural & sustainability challenges on this site🙌 As we complete our phase, we’re proud to hand over to McLaughlin & Harvey and wish them every success with the next chapter of this fantastic development.
Careers Fair – Grace Connor Posted 25th March 2026 by Linda Corcoran Earlier this week, Grace Connor returned to her former secondary school to take part in a Careers Day event, where she spoke to students about her role as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with J Coffey Construction👏 How the day worked: ❓The sessions were run in a carousel format, with each group of students first trying to guess Grace’s job title through a series of questions. At the end of each rotation, Grace revealed her role and shared an insight into what a typical working day looks like for her. 🗨️The students then had the opportunity to ask questions whereby Grace spoke about the benefits of apprenticeships including on-the-job learning, her own enrolment journey, advice on preparing for interviews & the key skills valued within the construction industry. Grace said it was a fantastic opportunity to return to the school she once attended & give students a real insight into what a Quantity Surveying Apprenticeship can offer👷♀️ Well done Grace. Your passion & dedication is truly valued & admired within the team.
Women in Construction Week! Posted 24th March 2026 by Linda Corcoran For Women in Construction Week, we caught up with the team on our Data Centre and Substation project to see this year’s theme “Level Up, Build Strong” in action. From the 30,000m³ basement excavation, piling, and enabling works to the full concrete package, including raft slabs, basement walls, and SR2 finishes, this project covers a large scope of works. With Aoife O’Neill driving the engineering on-site and Rachel Corcoran putting in the hours for her MSc in Quantity Surveying, the standard is being set high.

The judges commended our “outstanding technical expertise and deep sector-specific knowledge.” They noted our ability to deliver “complex, mission-critical structures to the highest standards, reflecting both precision and reliability.” This praise specifically acknowledges our work on projects like The Daubeny Project at The Oxford Science Park, the Extreme Photonics Applications Centre (EPAC), our current Vulcan 20-20 project at Harwell, and our redevelopment at Judd Street. This recognition is a powerful testament to our 30-year legacy, built on the dedication of our team and our commitment to pushing boundaries. Marking a pivotal moment at The Oxford Science Park! Posted 23rd July 2025 by Linda Corcoran Today we celebrate the Topping Out of Building 3 at the Daubeny Project, a key development in the park’s expansion. J Coffey is proud to be at the forefront, delivering vital infrastructure for Mace and contributing to the future of life sciences for The Oxford Science Park (TOSP) Our progress since November 2023 and to completion includes: ✅ Extensive earthworks: 40,000m³ of bulk excavation completed. ✅ Significant structural progress: 34,000m³ of reinforced concrete poured. ✅Key structural elements: Installation of 46 precast stairs and 14 reinforced concrete cores. Innovation in construction also means a focus on sustainability: ✅ Leading in waste management: 100% diverted from landfill. ✅ Maximising resource efficiency: 94% waste recycled. ✅ Driving down emissions: 36% CO₂ savings through smart material choices like GGBS. Building Futures! Posted 23rd July 2025 by Linda Corcoran A massive well done to Kai, Arthur, Costel, and Valentin! Our incredible team volunteered a combined 170 hours at Constructionarium UK with Mace guiding the next generation of construction enthusiasts at Imperial College London. They mentored students in recreating life-size mini models of iconic UK structures like the Gherkin, Millau Viaduct, Canopy Roof, and Kingsgate Footbridge. Helping out with everything from design and engineering to the final construction of these impressive models. The results speak for themselves! Well done to everyone involved for their dedication to this real hands-on approach to learning.

Community Giveback! Posted 23rd July 2025 by Linda Corcoran Our team swapped hard hats for helping hands and spent a rewarding day volunteering at the Horsenden Hill Activity Centre. Our volunteers tackled everything from a thorough litter pick, making the grounds sparkle, to painting fences and decking, bringing a fresh burst of colour and life to the outdoor spaces. Horsenden Hill Activity Centre plays such a vital role in our community, providing a fantastic space for people of all ages. We’re proud to have contributed to making it even more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone who uses it. Net Zero Week: Leading the Charge in Glass Recycling Posted 23rd July 2025 by Linda Corcoran This Net Zero Week, J Coffey is proud to showcase how we’re actively building a more sustainable future, with Saint-Gobain Glass UK and Ireland one pane of glass at a time. Check out this video of our team in action at the Fresh Wharf project for Mace, where we’ve already recovered an incredible 61 tonnes of glass out of an estimated 154 Tonnes! This is a significant stride towards reducing waste and our environmental impact. This same innovative process of on-site glass recycling is being implemented across several of our key projects, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to a circular economy. Since January 2025, we have recovered a huge 291.1 tonnes of glass on-site at the following projects: ✅Life Science Building at 17 Columbus Court for Morgan Sindall Group plc ✅Retail&Office Space at Bloomsbury for STRUCTURETONE LIMITED ✅Retail Space at Client Confidential Building on Oxford Street ✅Life Science Building at Judd Street for Third London Wall ✅Grade II Listed Building at 40 Argyll Street for Mace ✅Retail & Office Space at Fresh Wharf for Mace At J Coffey, reducing our carbon footprint isn’t just a buzzword, it’s embedded in everything we do. Inspiring Future Engineers at St Luke’s Trust “Steps to Success” Posted 23rd July 2025 by Linda Corcoran We recently attended St. Luke’s “Steps to Success” event, where our team from J Coffey engaged with some incredibly bright young minds! The kids got involved in a hands-on challenge, learning how to engineer a building using just spaghetti and marshmallows. It was great to see their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork in action as they designed and built their structures. We are pretty certain a few of the teams carried out “structural integrity tests”, or in the kids terms, eating the marshmallows to make sure they were up to the job! A big thank you to St. Luke’s for organising such a brilliant initiative!
Life Science Building in Canary Wharf Posted 2nd June 2025 by Linda Corcoran Exciting progress on site at 17 Columbus Court where the existing building is being repurposed into cutting-edge labs and offices for the life sciences and technology sector! Working in collaboration for Morgan Sindall Group plc, we’re making great strides: ✅Facade Removal: Nearing completion at 95%! ✅Slab Creation: Demolition is well underway to create the structural support for the new facade elements. We’re also proud of our commitment to sustainability! By partnering with Saint-Gobain to recycle the removed glass, we’ve achieved substantial carbon savings in the process. Progress at Vulcan: Demolition Phase Complete Posted 28th May 2025 by Linda Corcoran Our team has now completed the demolition works for our client, Mace on the Vulcan project. This represents a key step forward in the development of this significant scientific facility, which will house the world’s most powerful laser. This new infrastructure is being established at the Science & Technologies Facilities Council’s Central Laser Facility, a centre known for its leading work in laser science. The Vulcan upgrade will further enhance the CLF’s capabilities in this field. Well done to everyone involved in both the J Coffey Group and Mace teams for their work in reaching this stage.
